Harry Potter advertising

There are many types of marketing strategies used to draw people into the product. Here are a few examples to show different ways of advertising the new harry Potter film.

This is an advert shown on the back on a boy's magazine, the advert shows the character Voldemort (who is a main character in the film). The lettering Harry Potter is in the usual style in silver lettering, this stands out well against the glow of the magical ball Voldemort is holding. Coiled around Voldemort is a large dangerous looking snake, which its mouth open, the snake is positioned behind Voldemort which shows the snake is backing him. As this advert was found an a teenage boy's magazine, the advert can be fairly disturbing, which is why this advert could be seen as in the genera of horror.

This next advert was found on the front of a sci-fi magazine named SFX. The film Harry Potter goes well with this genera as they are similar. The image on the advert shows Harry with his hand drawn back whilst holding a want. From the wand is a red bright light which is grabbing the attention of the audience to make them want to buy this magazine. The advert doesn't directly say Harry Potter, it just has a large picture of him. This advert doesn't need to state that this magazine is about harry Potter as it is too obvious by the actor's face of Harry Potter. This magazine is aimed towards 16 upwards, which is related to the age of the character of Harry Potter, there for the audience can relate.

This is the next way of advertising, I found this Harry Potter dvd stand in Sainsburys. This does not advertise the new Harry Potter film, however it is related to Harry Potter advertising as it is still getting Harry Potter out there. This stand contains one of the older Harry Potter dvd's, there is the typical Harry Potter style writing at the top of the stand. In white bold writing, with a red background is the words "only £20"  which stands out to the shoppers.

This was found in South Woodford cinema, these are banners showing different characters faces on each sheet of paper. The faces stand out well in these banners as the background is black, and fades as the face comes into the picture. This fading technique is a typical Harry Potter advertising technique and is very distinctive as a Harry Potter product.

This is a review of a film leaflet. The title of the review is "Must-See Of The Month" which is a bold and exciting title, making many people want to go to see the film. There is a long review taking up two pages, raving on about how great the film is, which is an excellent way of advertising Harry Potter. Also at the top of the page is a large picture of Harry lying on the floor, this is a great image to show as people will want to find out why Harry is on the floor, leading them to watch the film.

This is the last advert, this was also found outside the cinema. There is a large picture of the three main characters Harry, Ron and Hermione running through the forest, which is an image that draws people in to want to find out why they are running through the forest. In white bold writing and a bright blue background says "On sale now" which is drawing attention to the brightly lit up advert.

Dialogue: The investigator, makes the scene less serious by making the other man worried, but then says ‘my pens dying.’
Camera movement: this is a two shot, as we can see the conversation between two people.
Dialogue:  The man being questions offers to help him fix the pen by saying ‘give it here, I know a trick.’
Camera movement: This shot then goes back to a wide shot.
Dialogue: The man questions the other man and says ‘a trick?’ there is a pause and then the man carries on to say ‘ this is a silver diamond pen’ as if to say no you must be joking. This is looking down on the man being questioned.
Camera movement: mid shot showing the expression on the younger man’s face.
Dialogue: The man takes this offensively, raises his eyebrows and says ‘do you want me to fix it or not?
Camera movement: Mid shot, showing the response of the investigator.
Dialogue: he again turns down the man’s offer and blames it on the fact that they have almost finished talking, which again is making the other man feel small.
Camera movement: mid shot showing the turn down on the man being questioned face.
Dialogue: The other man starts to asks him a question.
Camera movement: mid shot, showing the man answering the question.
Dialogue: The camera turns to the man asking the question to see how serious he is.
Camera movement: Mid shot turns on the other man.
Dialogue: The older man keeps asking the question whilst the camera is on him. He looks slightly angry.
Camera movement: Mid shot on man still asking the question.
Dialogue: He keeps asking the question, we can now tell the tension in the room by their facial expressions.
Camera movement: Mid shot now turns to other man, we assume he is now caught out.

Secrets And Lies Presentation

Secrets and lies presentation.ppt2

Slide 1

The lighting used is a key light which is the one used when someone gets a picture taken professionally
This is because we can see shadows in the background, this shows that the only light is in front of them
The costumes of everyone are quite old fashioned
The dad: grey suit black tie and looks smart
The son:  dressed like any other kid in casual clothes
The mum: centre of attention because she stands out with her cream dress
The Nan: Purple top ,typical old fashioned outfit for a Nan
Theyve all got typical hairstyles for their age as well as natural make up.
Some of the family look uncomfortable this is shown through their body language , facial expressions and their language
The mum is shown as the centre of attention.
This scene showcases typical Brutishness, this is shown by the accents and the black cab in the beginning
The colour of the old womans dress reflects the key light being shined on her which makes her the main focus of this scene
The old woman in purple is also easily the most positive in this scene with her body language being very open whereas the males behind are frowning and slumping their bodies
The old woman in white seems hesitated and in hurry.
All of them are wearing different type of clothes with different colours which shows their diversity
Theyre all stereotypical of their age group and gender in the way they dress and act.

Slide 2

There is a key light shining directly on him and a filler light shining to the right of him. The shadows behind him show this.
Because of his skin tone he blends in with colour of the background the filler light neutralizes this effect to an extent
Hes wearing a typical costume that a boxer would wear with boxing gloves and a boxing belt with shorts. Hes shown as a boxer due to his muscular physique and costume.
His body is glistening to resemble the pressure he would feel in the ring.
His aggressive and ready-for-battle body language resembles what he would be doing in the ring.
When he puts his hands on his hips he shows his attitude and means business
His facial expressions resemble a lion roaring, whos powerful and always ready for battle
His persona doesnt give off a very British aura
His lack of hair gives off the impression of the a thug. This is a stereotype that hes living up to

Slide 3

There is a key light because its the most influential .
Theres a filler light from the left as there is a darker shadow on the right side.
Her outfit includes a hat and a blue long nurses uniform and a white belt which gives the obvious impression of a nurse.
There is not much to say about the woman's hair, as it is mainly covered by a hat, it is tied up and put in the hat.
Her make up is natural.
Her body language shows that she has a lack of confidence because  she is using the chair as protection.
She is standing up right to show she is professional.
Her facial expression is also very serious which reflects the job she does.
When she smiles it seems put on and fake.
Followed by a nervous laugh.
The photographer has an English accent.

Slide 4

The back light resembles the sun.
The colour of their costumes are white which blends in with the background, this makes them seem like they are in heaven.
And the fact that the mother is wearing a white dress and the baby has no clothes on shows represents that everything is pure and that the baby is a new born.
The mothers hair is natural which also acts to the purity of the setting.
The baby has a basic hair style which also represents its a new born.
The mother is also wearing soft natural make-up.
The mother is showing affection by her body language towards her baby by holding it in her arms, she also looks very protective with her baby due to her crossed arms.
The mothers facial expression is obviously happy due to her baby just being born.
The baby looks content due to not knowing what it is doing and why it is there.
The photographer and the mother both sound British.
The mother is being a typical stereotype mother due to holding her baby.
The baby is being a stereotypical baby by acting like a youngster.

Slide 5

There is just one main light which is directed on the center at the dog as it is the main protagonist.
The lady is wearing the same colour to which the table cloth is.
She also has dogs on the jumper which shows her passion for dogs.
Red is used to show her passion towards her dog.
She brushes her dogs hair to make it look nice for the photo.
The ends of her hair is similar to the dogs hair to show that thats something they have in common.
The dogs body language is shown by its confused look, and it looks rather upset.
The women's body language shows that she wants the dog to look good in the photo by her busy body.
Her body language also shows that she wants to be in the photo herself.

Slide 6

The lighting used is a key light and there is a filler light coming from the left which creates a shadow on the right.
The owner of the cat is dressed in a smart black outfit which is good against the colour of the cats fur.
The pet seems well groomed as its fur it silky smooth, the ladys hair also seems well looked after and smart.
The owners make up is natural, she has near to none on.
The cat seems curious as it looks around wondering what is happening, the ladys body language is a bit uncomfortable as she has one arm around the chair that the cat is sitting in, the other hand is stroking the cats fur to keep her pet content.
We can see the lady has much love for her cat as she looks down at the cat and smiles.

All the people involved are English , when the owner speaks she seems on edge as she repeats the word yes over and over again.
This lady has a typical stereotype as a mad lady with a cat she adores, we also believe is mad as not many people have a photo shoot for their cat.

Slide 7

The man in this scene is dressed smartly, in a brown suit with matching tie, he seems he is ready to have is photo taken.
The gentleman's hair style is very casual and seems like not much effort has been put into it, this is maybe as he is a man and does not really take much notice to hair styles.
This man has no make up on.
His body language seems really uncomfortable, he is sitting in an upright position with his hands together but seems on edge of his seat.
His facial expression also seems uncomfortable as he looks confused throughout most of the clip.
By the tone of his voice, it is obvious that this man is in an uncomfortable position. The photographer is asking him questions and he replies with short quick answers, which shows he doesnt like the man asking him questions. When the photographer says Pick a bride time is it the man looks very worried.
The lighting  used is a key light which is shining on the man, and two filler lights from the right and left.
This scene is not very British as the man talks about a family relative in India.
The colours in this clip are all rather dull, and blend in together, the background is the same colour as the man shirt and tie, this is done so nothing stands out as the man seems shy he would not want to stand out.
This man does not really fall into a stereotype, altought he does come from India and does talk about India so perhaps falls under a different culture.

Slide 8

There is just a main key light in this clip, as they want all the attention on the this man.
This man is dressed is a smart suit and a bow tie, he is also wearing a faz, which shows he is unusual as a character, he also has an unusual moustache.
This mans body language is open, as he is stood up, and continues to do hand movements whilst speaking, to make a point, he does not look very happy about being there to do a photo shoot.  He is also holding something in this hand, which shows he is not ready for the photo.
The man is looking at the camera whilst speaking, then the photo takes, which shows the man was not prepared as he was mid sentence, he also look slightly worried with his large eyebrows raised.
This clip is very short, but the man states that he does not want flash, seconds before the picture is taking.
This scene is fairly British as both people in the clip have British accents, however the man wearing the faz looks slightly Moroccan which does not fit into the stereotype of a British man.

Slide 9

The lighting used is a key light, with a filler light coming from the right, to which most of the light is on her to show she is the centre of attetion.
She is dressed in a small seductive revealing outfit that shows off quite a bit of flesh
As the outfit she is wearing is black, it shows how mysterious and sexy she wants to be.
Her hair looks wild as if she has had a wild night out, although it does look pretty natural.
She is wearing red lipstick to show off her sexuality which also draws your eyes to her lips as it stands out more due to the dark background and dark clothing.
The rest of her make-up looks pretty natural.
Her body language is very open which shows her personality.
She's attempting to look sexy to which she is failing.
Her pose is seen as a sexy pose, although she looks extremely uncomfortable with a nervous laugh.
By her use of language, it shows she is uncomfortable as she says this is silly..
She pouts at the camera which again shows shes inviting, also its like shes inviting the audience.
The woman laughs nervously, which changes her body language from being open to closed, which shows that she is insecure.

This scene is very British as the people are all English however in the background there is a Greek pillar which shows she may be trying to act as a greek goddes which may be why she is so insecure.
She falls into the stereotype of a middle aged woman trying to be something  she is not.

Slide 10

The lighting in this clip is a key light and a filler light coming from the right to create a large shadow on the left.
There are three lady's in this clip, one is dressed in a baby blue outfit whilst the other two are wearing duller black clothes. This is done as the one wearing blue is the main character so the other two blend don't stand out so much. However they are all smartly dressed.
They all have very old fashioned hair styles, it seems they all have natural hair colours.
Their make up is quite natural apart from a couple of them are wearing red lipstick.
The lady lying down seems to be the shyer out of the three as she is just smiling, however I believe she feels insecure as when the photo has been taken she sits up slightly, which shows she is in an uncomfortable position. Also after the photo has been taken she seems slightly left out, as in threes a crowd. The lady in the baby blue outfit stands out the most, she seems the loudest and crudest as she is sticking her tongue out, which makes her stand out the most, her outfit also makes her stand out, so she is the main character as she has a strong personality. And finally the other lady dressed in black is fairly loud but is not seen as the main character in this clip, herself and the louder lady in the blue seem to be the naughty two, who are seeming to leave the other lady out.
There is a loud laugher after the photo is taken from the two red headed lady's, which seems to leave the lady in black out.
This scene is very British as they are all from Britain as I can see.
These lady's fall into the stereotype of older women trying to act younger than they actually are.

Slide 11

There is a key light concentrating on the three girls in the middle, whilst there are two over the top dramatic spot lights on the right and left hand side, to make it seem like the girls are on stage and important.
The children's hair styles are all very similar, they have it up, as they are doing spots, with a baby blue head band in to make them look pretty. They all have light hair and look similar to show they are related or maybe even triplets.
The sisters are standing up with one foot pointed out and holding hands, which shows they are close and ready for the photo. The assistant is sitting on the floor, whilst combing one of the sisters fringe ready for the photo, whilst the mum is by the side on the floor fixing one of her children's dress.
The mum’s facial expression looks pleased and proud of her three daughters, whilst the three children are quite and look a bit confused.
The mum is talking to the assistant about how lucky she is to have children whilst the assistant nervously laughs. The children keep quiet.
This is a very British scene as most British girls at that age of ballet.
There are very unusual colours used in this clip, as most young children would dress in pink to do ballet but these three girls are dressed in baby blue which doesn't fit the stereotype of their age. I believe the mother chose her children to be dressed in baby blue as she also has a blue flowery dress on so this could be her favourite colour.

Slide 12

This little boy is dressed in an old fashioned red waste coat which matches the sofa he is sitting on. He also has a white shirt and shorts on which makes the toddler look very smart.
His hair is combed over to show he is smartly dressed.
The little boy is sitting in one corner of the chair whilst scratching his nose, as he is a child and innocent he gets away with it. The mother comes over to the boy to stop him, she seems embarrassed.
The boys facial expression is curious and at one part looks although he is about to cry.
The boy does not speak in this clip, the mother and the photographer are talking to the boy but he seems like he is not paying much attention.
There is a key light and there is a filler light coming from the right hand side to create a shadow on the left.
This clip is very British as all the characters have British ascents, also the boy has very fair skin and hair colour.
The little boy falls under the stereotype of a typical toddler, as he looks and acts cheeky.

Slide 13

The men in this clip look important and almost like business men, as they are all in smart suits and ties.
A few of them have lack of hair, however a couple of them do, but it looks like they have not made much of an effort to make it look nice.
They all look proud as they are standing up tall, however the oldest one of the bunch is sitting in a chair up right still looking proud. After the photo has been taken one of the men looks at his watch as if to say you are wasting my valuable time.
They all have a very serious facial expression, however two of them have a slight smile while the photo is being taken, but drop back to seriousness after.
There is no speaking in this clip apart from a small bit of dialogue from the photographer, which also shows how serious and business like these men are.
There is a key light and a filler light coming from the left to create a dark shadow on the right.
This is a very British clip as they seem very posh and upper class, and business like.
These men fall into the stereotype of business men, and they fit it well.
